Welcome to Wirksworth Junior School
Our Core Value this half term is
Welcome to WJS!
Wirksworth Junior School is a very happy school. We provide a warm, supportive and inclusive ethos where staff and children work together to ensure all feel welcome, safe and cared for.
We want children to build memories to last a lifetime at school, for their learning to be full of excitement and challenge, and for them to develop a sense of enquiry and a desire to make the most of every opportunity.
We see working in partnership with parents, governors and the local community as vital to providing a culture of excellence where all children are encouraged to reach their potential.
You are always welcome to visit us, whether to look around, or to take part in activities and to experience the stimulating atmosphere that makes Wirksworth Junior School a very special place to be.
Wirksworth Junior School is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people. It recognises that all staff have a professional duty to take such steps as are reasonable to promote safe practice and to protect children from harm, abuse and exploitation. The safety and protection of all children is promoted in the Child Protection policies the school has adopted. These are available on request from the school office.
We are so pleased to let everyone know that over the last two weeks, the children have raised £43.57 for the Poppy Appeal, £314.85 for Children in Need and £97 for people in the Philippines. Thank you all for your generosity, particularly at this time of year.
Have a look at the school gallery to see photos of Rammie and the children in our anti-bullying assembly!
We are very pleased and proud to introduce our School Council for 2013 - 2014. The children were elected by their classes following presentations from prospective representatives. They spoke persuasively and with confidence and we are happy to introduce (from left to right): Christian, Rowan, Sam, Emma, Luca, Ben, Chloe, Sofia, Holly and Erin.
21st October - Hannah and Georgia from AGS have been working with our dance club on Monday evenings. Last night, parents were treated to a great performance by the group! Choose the Gallery tab, then School Gallery to see pictures and how they all 'Move Like Jagger'!
Don't forget that Wednesday 4th December is an INSET day. - no children in school.
